Rangiuru Interchange Opened

This morning, the Rangiuru Business Park near Te Puke took a big step forward with the official opening of its motorway interchange by Minister Shane Jones.

This 148 hectare development is critical for the eastern part of the district, for both investment and jobs.

It is also important to the whole district for the rates income it will bring and the fact that the council is a partner in the venture, with significant commitments made to service it (eg a new wastewater plant).

As well, it is a major project for the regional council (through its investment arm, Quayside Holdings).

So all our ratepayers need this 20-year investment to start to pay its way.

The welcome by mana whenua, led by Tapuika, was fantastic and Shane Jones spoke eloquently (his provincial growth fund kicked in $18 mln towards the interchange) but the most exciting part to me was news that Rangiuru now has some land sales under contract!

Not unconditional yet, but hopefully close to it. That is good news for all us ratepayers.
